When we were asked to develop a line capable of packaging two types of buckets in Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) — one measuring Ø200 x h.140 mm and the other Ø130 x h.130 mm — the challenge was clear: overcome the dimensional limits of the SPRINT tray sealer, originally designed for trays with a maximum height of 120 mm.

The solution was engineered with precision and creativity, resulting in a custom line that integrates the M.T.S. SPRINT with the MLL125-Easy, an automatic lid feeder.

To handle the non-standard height of the buckets, it was necessary to modify the sealing system of the SPRINT. Instead of the traditional mechanical cam sealing, a hybrid mechanical-pneumatic system was implemented.

The process unfolds in two stages:

  1. Mechanical lift using a connecting rod system, which brings the lower part of the mold closer to the upper part.
  2. Additional pneumatic lift, integrated into the lower part of the mold, allowing full contact between the two parts to perform MAP sealing.

The final sealing is carried out pneumatically, using pistons located in the upper part of the mold, ensuring a secure and airtight closure.

Once sealed, the buckets are transferred to the MLL125-Easy, where lids are picked from the storage unit and slide down a ramp positioned above the conveyor belt. The first available lid is placed onto the passing bucket, which then moves under a pressing belt. This applies the necessary pressure to snap the lid securely onto the bucket, completing the closure process.

This solution showcases the versatility of Migliorini technology and its ability to adapt to specific production needs.
The combination of operational efficiencytechnical adaptability, and smart automation makes this line a tangible example of applied innovation.
